Terms of engagement
Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms describe how we work and, just as importantly, what we do not do. Read the first section even if you read nothing else.
We are not a law firm
Mazibisa Consulting Group is a business consultancy. It is not a law firm, it is not a registered legal practice, and its personnel do not act as your legal practitioners.
We do not:
- give legal advice or legal opinions;
- represent clients in any court, tribunal or arbitration;
- prepare documents that may only be prepared by a registered legal practitioner;
- act in conveyancing or the transfer of immovable property;
- hold client funds in trust.
Where a matter requires any of those things, we say so and refer you to a registered legal practitioner. That referral is free and we take nothing for making it.
What we do provide
Commercial and business consultancy: explaining what an agreement obliges you to do in practical terms, preparing and supporting you in a negotiation, verifying facts before you commit, advising on business structure, process and pricing, and mapping the compliance obligations that apply to your business.
Our work is commercial judgement and verified information. It is not a statement of your legal rights, and it should not be relied on as one.
Nothing here is advice to you
The content of this website, including the Insights articles, is general information published for a general audience. It does not take account of your circumstances and is not advice on your matter. Do not act on it without taking advice on your own situation.
When an engagement begins
Contacting us does not create a professional relationship. An engagement begins only when we have agreed a written scope with you and you have confirmed it. Until then, nothing said in a first conversation commits either of us.
Scope and fees
Each engagement is set out in writing: what will be done, what you receive, how long it takes, and the fee. The fee is fixed against that scope. If the work needs to change, we agree the change and the revised fee with you before continuing.
The first conversation is free and carries no obligation on either side.
What we need from you
Our work depends on the completeness of what you give us. Where documents or facts are withheld, incomplete or inaccurate, our conclusions will reflect that. If something is material and you are unsure whether to mention it, mention it.
Confidentiality
What you tell us stays between us. We do not discuss your matters with other clients, name you as a client without your permission, or use your information for anything other than the work you engaged us for. See the privacy notice for how information is handled.
Limits of our responsibility
We take care over our work, but we cannot guarantee a commercial outcome — whether a negotiation succeeds, whether a counterparty performs, or how a third party will behave. Due diligence confirms what can be verified from the information available; it cannot rule out what has been deliberately concealed from everyone, and our report says plainly what could not be verified.
Governing law
Engagements with Mazibisa Consulting Group are governed by the law of Zimbabwe.
